MoPac Engine House - Harlingen, TX 1955
Below is the MoPac engine house at Harlingen, Texas. 4112 (Baldwin DRS-4-4-1500) is shown here sharing a track with a Whitcomb 44-tonner (number 805). A GE 44-tonner sits to the right of the photo. One can see why John German standardized the railroad to all EMD motive power when he came over from the Great Northern. The Mechanical forces had three different locomotive builders in Harlingen to maintain and repair. R. H. Carlson photo, 1-16-55. Charlie Duckworth collection.
